BGE is seeking an Environmental Project Manager – (supporting NEPA Transportation Projects) in our Environmental Services department in Central Texas Region that will partner with our Transportation Organization to support client projects.

Summary

BGE is seeking three Project Managers to support our client’s transportation projects with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.

Location

Houston Office/Headquarters (Westheimer).

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the quality, timeliness, and financial aspects of projects.
  • Collects project related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies, landowners and clients, resource map reviews, field investigations for aquatic resources, cultural resources, land use, and other related disciplines.
  • In a team structure, will lead, manage, and conduct studies and investigations for the purpose of preparing environmental reports and permit applications related to NEPA compliance for transportation projects.
  • Prepares environmental reports, permits, and related materials for compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Communicates scientific and technical information to the project team, client organizations and resource agencies through written reports and/or presentations using a careful blend of business and technical writing.
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train in multiple markets outside the transportation sector.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, geosciences, geography, or related field.
  • 5+ or more years of environmental science experience supporting the transportation industry with working knowledge of TxDOT requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the NEPA as it relates to project development and federal involvement, and experience with Clean Water Act Regulatory Program, Endangered Species Act and National Historic Preservation Act as related to environmental permitting requirements.
  • Solid organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Effective time-management, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Articulate with professional presence and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 and ArcGIS.
  • Must be able to conduct fieldwork, in sometimes inclement weather conditions, and be able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
