JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director will assist the Division Director with supervision of the administrative and field teams of the Special Improvement Division “SID” as well as the Tourism District activities within the jurisdiction of CRDA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage the SID Division in the Director’s absence.

2. Guides and leads the development, interpretation, and application of policies and practices within assigned functional areas. Measures and evaluates divisional and individual performance and effectiveness.

3.Collaborates with the Director and other stakeholders to recommend and implement long-term strategies for development and maintenance of the tourism district.

4. Assists in the development and management of the department budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet operational needs and project goals

5. Develop budgets for project implementation from concept designs to project closeout. Monitor project/service agreement budgets and provide progress reports as necessary.

6. Provide management with timely reviews of the SID’s operational and financial progress in its various programs and activities as well as any variances from established budgets.

7. Review bid packages and purchase orders for budgetary compliances

8. Review and recommend purchase orders and requisitions for the Division in accordance with budget guidelines

9. Establish and maintain vendor accounting system for tracking of funding costs, materials purchases, and installation accountability

10. Provide leadership and direction to department staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Delegate tasks, conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate professional development opportunities as needed.

11. Prepare staff actions and talking points for Board actions pertaining to SID.

12. Manage and conduct safety committee meetings.

13. Assist with all internal and external audits, as needed.

14. Attend and speak at public meetings concerning projects.


15. Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, business, public administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in a tourism or urban district setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with varying stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and other relevant technology platforms as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.
  • Ensure compliance with all Authority policies and procedures as well as State, Federal, and local regulations.
  • Ability to respond effectively to quickly changing priorities and responsibilities.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation to projects and field work for inspections within the tourism district.
