We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Estimator / Project Manager with a strong focus on transmission substations to join our dynamic team. In this dual role, you will be responsible for providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for transmission substation projects, as well as managing these projects from inception to completion. Your expertise in electrical systems, particularly in transmission substations, will be critical in ensuring the successful execution of projects, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:Estimating:- Prepare Detailed Estimates: Develop accurate cost estimates for transmission substation projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze Project Specifications: Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents to identify project requirements.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project costs and timelines, and recommend strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Bid Preparation: Compile comprehensive bid packages for submission, ensuring all required documentation is included and deadlines are met.
- Vendor Management: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to project requirements.
- Cost Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to improve cost efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and budgets, with a focus on transmission substations.
- Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to ensure project objectives are met.
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction.
- Quality Control: Oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring that work is performed according to the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Budget Management: Monitor project budgets closely, ensuring that costs are controlled and that any deviations are addressed promptly.
- Change Management: Manage project changes effectively, ensuring that scope, schedule, and cost adjustments are documented and approved.
- Project Closeout: Ensure successful project closeout by completing all required documentation, conducting post-project evaluations, and securing client approval.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in electrical estimating and project management, with a strong focus on transmission substation projects.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of transmission substation systems, electrical codes, industry standards, and construction practices.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Esticom) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Certifications: PMP, PE, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead project teams and manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in estimates and project documentation.
