Join Summit County Public Health We are looking for a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Environmental Health Specialist In-Training to work full-time (35 hours per week) in our Food and Recreation program Monday through Friday.

The Environmental Health Specialist in the Food and Recreation program is responsible for licensing and inspecting food service operations, retail food establishments, public pools, spas, beaches, campgrounds, and schools in compliance with state and environmental health codes. Duties of this role include conducting plan reviews, educating operators, investigating foodborne illnesses, addressing complaints related to food safety and recreational facilities, and performing water sampling, testing, and legionella assessments. The Environmental Health Specialist ensures compliance with state guidelines through regular inspections to maintain safety standards. The ideal candidate must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) in the sciences; a valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability, and insurance coverage; and be able to acquire and maintain the Environmental Health Specialist in Training credential from the department of Health (please see the ODH REHS/EHS-IT credential for more info regarding eligibility).
