At EDMO, staff members spend their time connecting with kids, honing leadership skills and making a real impact - all while rocking wacky costumes and getting pied in the face Our positions offer a unique opportunity to help kids uncover hidden talents, while pursuing your own personal and professional goals and passions. The After School Instructor is responsible for all things pertaining to their group of students including teaching captivating curriculum, facilitating interactive games, diving into SEL concepts and anything else that arises during the After School day. They train on all EDMO Science, Maker, and Technology curriculum. Instructors should be prepared for personal and professional growth, classroom management practice, and a whole lot of FUN
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Approach education with passion and excitement and build positive role model relationships with students
- Instruct students individually and in groups, in an in-person environment, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions and demonstrations.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, and projects; communicate objectives to students.
- Refine curriculum and add personal contributions as seen fit
- Effectively communicate with students, parents and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication.
- Interact with parents in a professional and energetic manner
- Help cultivate healthy self-esteem and a natural love for learning
- Be responsible for supply inventory, bin prep and clean-up
- Maintain accurate reporting: attendance records, class notes, daily log, incident reports
- Lead engaging and well organized outdoor games and activities designed to promote teamwork, collaboration and fun physical activity
- Attend staff meetings and professional development series
- Ensure all students are safe and have a positive experience in our programs
- Exhibit the EDMO Vibe and demonstrate through actions and words each of the social emotional learning (SEL) skills of self-awareness, problem solving, collaboration, and empathy, while also reinforcing these qualities in other staff and kids
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM SPECIFICS:
Each day staff members will support students in their academics from the regular school day, provide engaging enrichment using existing EDMO curriculum and facilitate physical activity periods aligned with EDMO's company philosophy.
Program Dates: 8/9/23 - 6/7/24

Requirements:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Experience (and a love for) working with kids
- Strong teaching skills
- Talent for making the subject engaging
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Knowledge of after school programs preferred
- Ability to explain and instruct students at basic level
- Experience facilitating groups of children in a classroom and/or working with youth programs
- High sense of responsibility and dependability
- Contagious enthusiasm and charisma
- Strong team player
- Creative, flexible, and excellent multi-tasker
- Willingness to solve problems, be patient, and remain positive
- Science, Technology or Maker background
- Great sense of humor and love of learning
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry bins with teaching materials
- PLUS: Experience in a summer camp environment
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of 48 semester units in college or willingness to take Instructional Exam online given to you by EDMO

- Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbents may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
- Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors and outdoors.
