WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking someone to represent Mercantile Bank as our digital "front desk" by engaging our customers through online platforms and social media. This position is all about our online presence - from developing, creating, executing, and monitoring brand appropriate content to analyzing and homing in on areas of opportunity to extend our reach. You'll spend your time creating and writing engaging content to drive brand awareness, assisting in our video and photo shoots, monitoring content on all social media sites, and providing excellent timely feedback to anyone engaging with us digitally.

While our headquarters is in downtown Grand Rapids, we have branches across the state of Michigan and are open to considering candidates in the Mt. Pleasant and Alma areas as well to report to our Alma Operations center. If we hire a candidate outside our Grand Rapids headquarters this person would be required to travel more often to Grand Rapids and other branch locations across the state to collaborate on video and photo projects and access in-person support from their manager located in Grand Rapids.

Working collaboratively with the rest of the marketing team and with the support of your manager, you will measure, analyze, and refine your efforts - identifying trends and areas of opportunity. By keeping up on best practices and keeping the Bank's mission and social media policy top of mind you will be an ambassador of Mercantile Bank externally and support internal customers by providing advice, support, and best practice information.

By owning the social platforms and online customer review management for Mercantile Bank you will have ample opportunity to connect with our customers - both inside and outside of the bank. Your role will help bridge the gap between our internal teams all while using your creative, upbeat, witty (albeit professional) personality to promote why we are the financial and career partner of choice.

TO SUM UP:

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, minimum HS Diploma + equivalent technical certifications
  • Minimum 2 years' experience social media management
  • Minimum 2 years' experience photo + video production assistance
  • Minimum 2 years' customer service experience, with digital experience preferred
  • Strong aptitude for learning new systems, with preferred knowledge of HubSpot CRM
  • Graphic design experience with editing and content creation skills
  • Ability to work in-person in Grand Rapids, MI or Alma, MI
  • Valid drivers license and ability to drive to Mercantile Bank locations throughout Michigan
  • Ability to connect with customers digitally and write engaging copy
  • Creativity with a strong ability to anticipate brand expectations
  • Customer focus mindset with timely and accurate follow-up
  • Extremely strong written communication skills and awareness of tone, trends, and inclusion
  • Curious and detail-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
