DEPT: Center for the Study of the Hispanic Church and Community (Centro Latino – Texas Campus)
HOURS: 20 Per Week
FT/PT/TEMP: Temporary (3 years)
STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Centro Latino

Brief Description:

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for making personal, face-to-face contact with ecclesial ministries, churches, bible institutes, and community organizations to raise money and recruit prospective students and participants for Centro Latino programs, professional certificates, and Centro Latino-related events in the Houston/Texas area.

This position will play a critical role in the Centro Latino mission's success by further developing and supporting the center's partnerships and community-focused research, outreach, and educational offerings. In addition to having strong organizational and interpersonal abilities, initiative, judgment, and negotiating skills, we are seeking an outreach coordinator that is passionate about enabling individuals to flourish.

Additionally, this position will work in tandem with the Houston campus team in coordinating efforts such that there will be mutual benefit to both Centro Latino as well as Fuller TX’ interests. This will involve regular attendance in weekly Houston team meetings, as well as any additional meetings required.

This is a part-time, temporary position (20 hours per week) with an expected duration of three years.

The Community Outreach Coordinator will report directly to Centro Latino's director, with accountability to the Chancellor of Fuller TX.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop professional and supportive relationships with all existing partners, strategic people, or organizations.
  • Conduct research on potential partners and create partnership opportunities with Hispanic-focused community organizations and individuals.
  • Conduct market research and assess Centro Latino's educational product potential, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities.
  • Serve as an instructor and/or facilitator, depending on your relevant education and experience.
  • Plan and organize a range of meetings, seminars, conferences, and related training, research, and dissemination events.
  • Develop printed materials, PowerPoint presentations, and related resources to utilize during visits to potential Centro Latino donors, students, and/or participants.
  • The director of Centro Latino may assign any additional responsibilities.

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Fully bilingual (able to read, write, comprehend, and speak both Spanish and English fluently).
  • Possess an understanding of Spanish and English-speaking church contexts, along with the ability to effectively communicate with seminary donors, students, and participants in these contexts.
  • A master's degree is required in a relevant area (e.g., education, theology, ministry, or leadership).
  • Three to five years of applicable professional experience are required.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, which include the ability to deal warmly, professionally, and effectively with people both on the phone and in person.
  • Creativity in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • The ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment is a must—the ability to initiate, prioritize, maintain, and complete both short-term and long-term projects simultaneously with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Possess the capability to dedicate some evenings or weekends to special events.

Additional remarks:

  • Must be willing to abide by Fuller Community Standards
  • This position may be required to visit the Houston, TX campus from time to time.

Pay Scale:

  • Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $25.00 per hour USD
