The Primary Responsibilities of this Role are:

  • Handle daily payroll department operations including collecting and verifying timekeeping information and processing payroll for two companies (approx. 150 employees)
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including required payroll garnishments (child support, medical, collections, taxes, etc.)
  • Respond to payroll and benefit-related inquiries and resolve concerns
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Manage salary changes, deductions, bonuses, and PTO 
  • Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping all private information confidential
  • Recode labor time entries to match worker compensation codes
  • Pay liabilities
  • Input 401K deductions information
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service to employees with questions related to payroll (our employees are everything)
  • Other duties as assigned


You will be successful in this role if your background and capabilities include:

  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
  • Experience with Davis Bacon wages preferred
  • Data entry skills
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets
  • Proficiency in MS Office and QuickBooks (required)
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • 1-3 years of payroll processing or general accounting experience
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional verbal and written etiquette
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
