Position: Tele Nurse
Location: Edison, NJ

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Tele is responsible for evaluating and providing patient care, specifically focusing on a respiratory patient population, including patients with ventilators. The RN will plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patient needs, using critical assessment and prioritization skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment and Care Planning:

    • Evaluate patient needs and develop individualized care plans through initial and ongoing assessments.
    • Identify patient priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
    • Initiate assessments based on patient problems, physician medical diagnosis, and functional health framework.
  • Therapeutic Nursing Interventions:

    • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions, including managing care of ventilated patients, administering cardiac drips, and handling tracheostomies.
    • Provide patient-centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice models.
    • Advocate for evidence-based practice care standards and support the adoption of innovations in care delivery.
  • Clinical Documentation:

    • Document patient care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
    • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with clinical standards.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
    • Float to other units within the facility as required.
  • Other Duties:

    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years (recent) Telemetry experience.
  • Experience with ventilators (VENTS), cardiac drips, tracheostomies (trachs), and strip reading.
  • Ability to evaluate rhythm, interpret strips, and administer cardiac drips.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Telemetry certification or competency.
Education Requirements:
  • Required:
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
    • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    • Telemetry Certification or successful completion of a Telemetry Competency Exam.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
  • Epic experience.
Additional Information:
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs.
  • Reporting Location: Edison Medical Center.
  • Schedule Notes:
    • Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
    • Every other weekend required.
    • Holidays as needed.
    • No on-call duties.
  • Skills Note:
    • Strongly prefer Telemetry nurses who can effectively evaluate rhythm, interpret strips, and administer cardiac drips.
    • Experience with Epic electronic health record system is highly preferred.
