The HR Specialist is responsible for one or more specific functional areas within the HR department and collaborates with the Director of Human Resources. Areas include but are not limited to Recruiting, Orientation & Training, Compensation & Benefits, Employee relations and Payroll.

This is a highly visible position within the organization, requiring the greatest degree of professionalism, emotional intelligence, and attention to detail.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in business, management or Human Resources and 5+ years' HR experience is required. Must include hands on experience with Payroll systems. Experience with Paycom preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must possess strong internal & external customer service skills. Must have the ability to remain calm & professional while dealing with difficult or stressful situations.
  • Must be Detail Oriented & possess excellent computer skills.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual with the ability to multi-task.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Process a high volume payroll and all relevant reporting & day to day functions associated with such.
  2. Maintains the payroll system database to ensure accuracy including set up, terminations, payroll deduction changes, etc.
  3. Process & file monthly & quarterly reports internally & with state/federal agencies
  4. Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
  5. Assists or manages new-employee orientation to include completing documents, reviewing payroll system and a highlight of important policies and procedures.
  6. Reviews, edits and updates SOP for functional area at least annually
  7. Handles some day to day office management functions including maintaining supplies & organizing employee events.
