Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Peer Support Services: Work collaboratively with individuals to enhance their recovery journey, promoting a culture of hope, empowerment, and self-advocacy.
  • Assess and Remove Barriers: Identify and address personal and environmental obstacles to recovery, connecting individuals with community resources and services.
  • Facilitate Support Groups: Lead in-person groups for support and aftercare needs, fostering a sense of community and connection among participants.
  • Linkage and Referral: Provide linkage to the recovery community, connecting individuals with relevant services and resources.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately complete required documentation and reports, ensuring timely and thorough treatment services.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certified Recovery Peer Specialist: Certification as a Recovery Peer Specialist is preferred, with a commitment to obtaining certification within one year of hire.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills and proficiency in software applications.
  • Special Skills: A personal history of managing mental health or substance abuse issues, with a minimum of 2+ years of experience. Familiarity with the Sarasota County community and ability to interact with diverse populations.
