POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Director, the Accounts Payable (A/P) Clerk completes A/P functions, provides clerical support, filing (both alphabetic and numeric), data entry, and backup reception support to the Finance department to ensure that all necessary functions are completed in a timely and organized manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assists with general clerical duties.
2. Responsible for preparing and processing all vendor payments.
3. Initiates and manages all Tribal payable within the accounting software.
4. Assists with reception duties if needed.
5. Performs all other related duties assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Experience in cash handling and A/P is preferred.
3. The demonstrated ability to file alphabetically and numerically is required.
4. Must possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license.
5. Must maintain absolute confidentiality; breach of confidentiality is cause for immediate termination if not followed to the highest standard.

NATIVE PREFERENCE

Preference in hiring is given to either the most qualified applicant or a Native American candidate who meets the minimum qualifications. When two (2) or more Native American candidates have comparable qualifications, the following order of preference shall apply: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (4) All other documented Native Americans; (5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Native preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
