Job Purpose

Straughan is currently seeking a Noise Analyst/Engineer to join our Environmental Planning Team. Your skills and knowledge of applicable concepts would support studies and design in the areas of noise and air quality. Must have a minimum of 1 year of professional highway noise experience.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform work in the areas of traffic noise analysis, rail noise analysis, construction noise analysis, noise barrier design, sound monitoring, vibration analysis, and/or air quality analysis.
  • Collecting field data collection and data processing.
  • Utilizing noise modeling software.
  • Conducting noise impact analysis.
  • Supporting tasks and services would include report preparation, CADD & GIS usage, noise modeling, analysis, and/or environmental planning and permitting support.
  • Additional tasks may support NEPA projects.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental Science or a related field.
  • MUST have a minimum of 1 year of professional highway noise experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft/Excel)
  • Detail Oriented
  • CADD Experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communications skills


Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant background in Acoustical Analysis, Noise Abatement Design, Air Quality, Traffic Analysis, Site Design, Roadway Design, and / or Rail Noise is preferred.
  • Experience with MicroStation
  • Noise analysis experience with the Maryland Department of Transportation is preferred
  • General transportation related planning or NEPA experience is preferred

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to traverse various types of terrain for extended periods of time
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor field work and in unpleasant field conditions
  • Physically able to conduct field work and carry equipment used for field work
  • Must be able to travel to field locations as required
  • Valid driver's license
