What We're Looking For

The ADABAS-Natural Senior Analyst-Developer is an essential technical resource for leveraging expertise in ADABAS database management and Natural programming to enhance and optimize business applications. This role involves providing technical leadership, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the effective utilization of ADABAS and Natural technologies.

Position Overview

The ADABAS-Natural Senior Analyst-Developer will play a key role in uncovering and documenting leading business rules and supporting new functionality that are essential for the success of the migration to the cloud of a legacy HR/Payroll solution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze Legacy Natural Code: Review and analyze existing Natural source code to understand the logic and functionality of the application.
  • Examine ADABAS Databases: Evaluate the structure and data within ADABAS databases to identify relationships and dependencies.
  • Documentation: Document and map the existing business rules, data flows, and dependencies within the Natural applications and ADABAS databases.
  • Reverse Engineering: Use reverse engineering techniques and tools to understand and capture undocumented business logic and rules from the legacy code.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, developers, and other team members to gather requirements and insights on business rules

Requirements

  • 5 years of proven experience as an ADABAS-Natural Analyst-Developer with a deep understanding of Natural programming language.
  • Expertise in working with ADABAS databases, including data modeling, ADABAS queries, and database design.
  • Experience with IBM mainframe
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering techniques and tools is a plus.
  • Excellent documentation skills and the ability to create clear and comprehensive documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex, undocumented business rules.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a technical lead or SME in ADABAS and Natural development.
  • Experience with legacy system modernization projects is advantageous.
