The Twinsburg Public Library is seeking a full-time Acquisitions and Processing Associate to join our team. Ever wanted to see what goes on behind the scenes at the Library? This is a unique opportunity to prepare new materials for our shelves. The successful candidate will have superb attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks based on Library standards, and enthusiasm for working directly with the employees who serve the public.

Responsibilities include:

  • Data entry involved in adding new materials to the Sirsi/Dynix system (training provided).
  • Physically preparing new materials for circulation (e.g. printing and attaching labels to items).
  • Repairing damaged items.
  • Processing orders for new materials that are selected by librarians.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Enters library materials accurately into SIRSI, using cataloging provided by catalogers, to process new items for shelf readiness.

Requests bibliographic records, overlays, and cataloging from CLEVNET and other library sources.

Provides courteous service to patrons at drive-up window.

Works efficiently and agreeably with members of public services departments.

Unpacks, receives, and routes library materials to appropriate departments.

Mends and discerns sustainability of materials, discards titles from catalog, and prepares for Friends’ shop or recycling.

May process orders for library materials and supplies using EDI/9xx ordering and vendor websites. Communicates with CLEVNET when issues arise.

May provide direction to other staff in absence of Acquisitions & Processing Manager.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


High school diploma or equivalency. Bachelor’s and previous library experience preferred.


CONDITIONS AT WORK


Fast-paced environment that may require handling difficult customer service situations.

Job is primarily performed indoors in a typical customer service setting and involves frequent close-up work, including use of a PC monitor.

Routinely required to read small print on book spines, packing slips, barcodes, ISBN numbers, and periodicals.

Employee may be scheduled to work evening and weekend hours, including Sundays; schedules may be altered depending on the needs of the Library.

Travel is occasionally required to visit off-site training sessions and meetings.

Physical Requirements: Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds; ability to reach overhead and stoop to floor level; ability to operate standard office equipment.
