The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the chemical industry, including chemical purchasing and transportation industry knowledge. Understanding macroeconomic and industry-specific factors affecting commodities is essential, and familiarity with the Fats and Oils industry is advantageous. Creativity and the ability to exercise latitude in decision-making are expected. Prior experience managing a direct procurement group is mandatory. Relocation to Batesville, Arkansas, is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the chemical raw material purchasing team
  • Supervise and mentor procurement and transportation professionals
  • Set and manage chemical raw material prices for potential new chemicals
  • Negotiate key raw material contracts in collaboration with the CFO and Legal team
  • Address supply chain issues, including supplier performance, force majeure, and quality concerns
  • Act as the subject matter expert for chemical markets
  • Foster collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Utilize self-management principles and SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for purchase orders
  • Analyze purchasing information to optimize sourcing
  • Apply economic analysis principles to assess value
  • Manage multiple issues simultaneously with strong attention to detail and time management skills, regularly updating stakeholders
  • Collaborate with quality, technology, and engineering resources to maximize value
  • Use Microsoft Office tools to evaluate vendor quotes, prepare reports, and analyze purchasing options

Qualifications:

  • Technical degree (required)
  • CPSM® certification (preferred)
  • Relevant experience in the chemical industry
  • Prior experience in chemical purchasing and transportation industry knowledge
  • Understanding of macroeconomic and chemical industry factors affecting commodities
  • Knowledge of the Fats and Oils industry (a plus)
  • Experience managing a direct procurement group
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in using SAP ERP and Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
