Position Overview:

As the face of Mobile Air, this role emphasizes proactive communication and high service levels as the ultimate measures of effectiveness. The Travel Service Technician is responsible for the service, installation, and delivery/pick-up of rental equipment. This position involves interfacing with customers, providing technical support, and collaborating with peers, outside sales personnel, service managers, and inside sales team members to coordinate rental equipment operations. The role requires troubleshooting and repair skills, as well as hands-on installation capabilities, depending on the technician's experience level (I, II, or III).

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional demeanor as the primary contact for customers, ensuring that their experience promotes return business.
  • Process customer orders in collaboration with the inside salesperson and branch manager; fill and deliver orders while documenting any discrepancies on delivery tickets.
  • Install various rental equipment as required, ensuring to follow the safety protocols and not connect power cords to customer panels.
  • Setup temporary heating equipment, running hoses for natural gas or propane; note that the actual connection is a customer responsibility.
  • Assist in the cleaning, preparation, and loading of air-cooled chillers and large HVAC rental equipment as necessary.
  • Execute equipment start-up procedures, following all safety protocols including arc flash PPE when working with electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair air conditioning systems, including charging refrigerant circuits, as well as diagnose and repair oil-fired heating units.
  • Use flexible ductwork and ensure appropriate PPE and fall protection measures are utilized at all times.
  • Collect and document equipment upon pick up from customer locations, noting any missing items on the pick-up ticket for customer acknowledgment.
  • Conduct equipment reconditioning in accordance with established work instructions and checklists.
  • Complete any additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • For Technician I: Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; high school diploma or equivalent; preferred 2-year HVAC certificate; familiarity with Microsoft and MRP or rental software; must pass DOT physical/drug tests and have a valid driver’s license; ability to lift/move equipment up to 50 lbs; significant travel required.
  • For Technician II: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; 2-year HVAC certificate or equivalent experience; must possess ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems and have certifications for handling refrigerants; must pass DOT physical/drug tests and have a valid driver’s license; ability to lift/move equipment up to 50 lbs; significant travel required.
  • For Technician III: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience; 2-year HVAC certificate including Universal Refrigeration Certificate; advanced troubleshooting skills for air-cooled chillers and large HVAC units; must pass DOT physical/drug tests and have a valid driver’s license; ability to lift/move equipment up to 50 lbs; significant travel required.

Work Schedule:

A significant amount of travel is required for this position. This position may also require being available for evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak seasons. Overtime and double-time pay rates apply for applicable hours worked.
