We are looking for a skilled Bookkeeper in the healthcare industry to perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial office tasks.

The Bookkeepers responsibilities include maintaining financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This includes processing payroll via Paychex every other week and for each termination. You will also run accounting software programs (e.g. QuickBooks Online, Sage) to process business transactions, like accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful Bookkeeper should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers. Ultimately, a successful Bookkeeper will ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively via knowledge of budgets and forecasting with the support of the CFO.

 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

 

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Processing multiple payrolls using Paychex system and posting payroll to GL.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts weekly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks and lenders.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Supports the CFO in preparing for outside audits with by gathering necessary account information and documents.
  • Assists with the filing of tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Coordinates with vendors to ensure timeliness and accuracy of payments.
  • Coordinates with internal staff to ensure accurate record keeping and approval of invoices.
  • Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Works with the purchasing and invoicing system.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Proven accounting experience in similar rolls within the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Highly proficient with QuickBooks Online, as well as Sage.
  • Knowledgeable of payroll processing systems
  • Knowledge of and understanding of cloud-based storage and organization.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Payroll processing.
  • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks.
  • Excellent Excel skills including creation of spreadsheets that include pivot tables.
  • Familiarity with Windows computer and basic telecom systems set up and administration.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least three years of related experience required.
