We are currently searching for an Operations Manager for our client who will be responsible for ensuring all city and transfer contracts are correctly executed, assisting with the development of the local market area and interacting regularly with all directors, area market managers, service managers, drivers and customers.


** Previous experience in Trucking and Hauling preferred


Responsibilities for the Operations Manager:

  • Responsible for hiring (in collaboration with HR and Safety), driver training and residential, transport deliveries, transfer station and collection operations out of the facility.
  • Ensures all scheduled drivers in all systems complete each days work.
  • Supervises all hauling company drivers and conduct inspections on all company vehicles.
  • Manages the facility's operation and submits required reports.
  • Coordinates between all departments while maintaining a level of employment in accordance with workload in order to ensure quality service and productivity.
  • Evaluates equipment quality and availability on a daily basis and regularly reviews route data while maintaining an inventory of company vehicles and equipment.
  • Interacts with drivers and helpers (including monitoring by video, as applicable) to ensure they are working effectively and productively. This includes conducting route observations and driver ride-alongs.
  • Conducts monthly safety meetings, in coordination with the Safety Manager, while also reviewing and/or investigating all accidents and ensures compliance with federal, state, local and company safety rules and regulations
  • Ensures all employees are reviewed and receive a performance evaluation at least annually.
  • Reviews all company fleet routing software reports for accuracy.
  • Resolves customer service discrepancies with sales/customer care and customers.
  • Manages staffing to minimize employee turnover.
  • Develops and maintain good relations with city and local communities and serve as the companys liaison in matters concerning the city.



Essential Skills:

  • Has a working knowledge of all systems involved in solid waste management and disposal
  • Has basic proficiency in use of the internet
  • Has the ability to become proficient in all the company's computer systems, including their fleet routing software;
  • Is proficient with Microsoft Office i.e. Excel, Word
  • Ability to manage an operating budget


Essential Qualifications:

  • Has at least 5 years of previous experience managing site operations


Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Solid waste background with facility management experience.
  • Experience working with non-exempt employees
  • Bachelors Degree preferably in business, management, supply chain or other related field.


Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid class C drivers license;
  • Record of safe driving for the last three years as shown on current MVR
  • Class B MSW License or the ability to obtain one within three months of employment.


Compensation:$100-$130k per year, with full benefits
