What You’ll Do

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, working both independently and under guidance from the Controller. This individual is responsible for preparing external and internal financial statements, posting to the general ledger, developing, maintaining and managing underlying accounting records, ensuring general ledger accounts are properly reconciled to underlying records and managing reporting that highlights financial performance by unit/location, team or individual and compares to established goals. Must work well with other teams, including Administration, Human Resources, Lending Teams in-house, as well as internal and external auditors, meeting established goals and timelines.

Responsibilities Include

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting and tax regulations, as well as Bank policies and procedures.
  • Create, maintain and manage financial records and reports.
  • Performing account reconciliations and clearing reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with budget and monthly/quarterly/annual close processes.
  • Provide supporting data for regulatory filings (SEC and Bank).
  • Assisting with the preparation of consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information.
  • Prepare and post general ledger entries.
  • Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Gathering requests for information regarding the completion of the annual financial statement audit.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Special projects as assigned.

What You’ll Need to be Successful

  • Accuracy and Thoroughness – strong attention to detail
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting – thorough understanding of financial data and ability to analyze that data to develop reporting used across the Bank.
  • Communication – speak and write clearly and persuasively in all situations; listen, get clarification, and respond well to questions; precise and exact when delivering information.
  • Productivity -- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; strong organization and time management skills
  • Computer Literacy -- Fluency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Compliance – consistently adhere to Bank policies and regulations, reinforce training to ensure that bank employees are aware of UDAAP and do not harm consumers with any act that could be misleading, unfair, deceptive, or abusive in act or practice. Understand and follow applicable regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma; and
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field, and
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Pay Range (Salary): $67K -- $72K
