Savanna Well Servicing Corp.

Savanna Well Servicing Corp. (“Savanna”) is based in Dickinson, North Dakota and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Total Energy Services Inc. (“Total Energy”) based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Savanna has built a reputation for delivering quality service to customers with experienced, safe crews and well-maintained equipment. Savanna currently operates 500 series Service King and Loadcraft rigs along with a variety of auxiliary equipment.

Reporting to the Vice President, Drilling Services for Total Energy, the General Manager, Well Servicing Corp. (“GM”) is responsible for leading the delivery of safe and profitable Well Servicing operations in the USA, which includes safe execution of operations, personnel and customer management, revenue growth, cost management and planning. With the goal of maximizing utilization, the GM will ensure people and equipment resources are available and allocated to meet customer demand. The GM is responsible for developing and delivering on a growth strategy to expand within the USA market. Direct reports of this position are the Operations Manager, Controller, HR Manager, and HSE Advisor.

As the GM will be focused on business development and expansion, the GM should reside in Dickinson, North Dakota, however, regular travel throughout the Bakken region is required.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the highest possible level of safety, operational and financial performance.
  • Responsible for the Savanna P&L and achieving net earnings profitability consistently.
  • Develop short- and long-term plans that drive profitable growth and engage all operational, HR, HSE and support employees to deliver results.
  • Primary focus is to identify new business opportunities, specifically in the Williston basin, in a financially prudent manner.
  • Increase utilization with existing customers and expand customer base to include the major North Dakota Operators.
  • Gather market intelligence (competitor rates; current/future work; industry utilization; daily operating costs) to gauge market conditions and set pricing with focus on margins.
  • Review operational concerns pertaining to equipment performance, safety or people issues with the Operations and HR Manager to ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Organize and hold regular operations, safety and marketing reviews to gauge performance and motivate teams.
  • Lead the hiring, training and mentorship of direct reports. Assist the HR Manager in identifying qualified candidates in the geographical area.
  • Participate in the annual planning process regarding development of annual budgets and capital plans for approval.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Engineering is preferred.
  • 10+ years experience working, supervising and managing in completions, well servicing and service rig operations in the North Dakota Williston Basin is required.
  • Proven track record leading safe and profitable operations.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, always looking for ways to improve the business.
  • Direct experience in a start-up environment and/or leading growth.
  • Results oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Moderate to good computer skills.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams and motivate for performance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financials and how to improve financial results.
  • Innovative, adaptable and ability to lead change.

  • As this is an Operations role, will be required to be on call 24/7
  • Travel up to 40%
  • Ability to obtain safety training certifications as needed
  • Be able to pass pre-employment testing and background/MVR checks
