Position: Lead Tech
Location: San Antonio Botanical Gardens
Position Overview:
- Techs will provide excellent guest service to ensure Memoir quality standards are met.
- Techs will be responsible for show prep such as audio, power, fog machines, snow machines, flame effects machines, lighting and activation/installation setup and tear down knowledge.
- Techs will be responsible for checking on and maintaining all tech related equipment throughout their shift.
- Techs will be responsible for troubleshooting various technical elements of the show, usually in regards to power or signal flow
- Techs will help promote event safety by monitoring attendees for signs of disruptive behavior, like excessive intoxication, potential environmental hazards (tripping) and escalating issues to management as necessary.
- Techs will answer a variety of guest questions, and must be knowledgeable about many parts of the event, providing the most accurate and up to date information possible
- Techs will be responsible for the daily opening and closing procedures relevant to their area
- Techs report to the Event Manager.
Requirements:
- Ability to to complete physically demanding tasks, such as standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold temperatures)
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. **Reasonable accommodations may be made to allow differently-abled individuals to perform the essential functions of the job.**
- Must be prompt, and be able to work all shifts as assigned.
- Reliable forms of communication & transportation
- Staff provide their own attire, with approval (black pants & shirts are recommended. Closed toes shoes are required at all times)
- Must be willing and able to step into other roles on the event site after an appropriate amount of training. These other areas include, but are not limited to, ticket scanning, parking, and other general event staffing roles.
- Must have a deep understanding of technical show production aspects such as Audio, Lighting and Effects as well as their protocols including but not limited to DMX, MIDI,, etc.
- Must be capable of problem solving and splitting responsibilities between themselves and the tech assist in the case an issue needs resolving.
- Must be willing to do maintenance repairs on other assets around the event if necessary and set as a high priority task to be completed.
- Must be willing to be trained and certified for Flame Effects Operator License, provided and compensated for by Memoir.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has excellent problem solving skills, and an acute attention to detail
- Has 1-3 years of experience with setting up Audio/Visual equipment
- Has experience with the maintenance of Audio/Visual equipment
- Is a leader who can make quick decisions under pressure, like when an installation is out of service.
- Enjoys interacting with guests and also having a role behind the scenes
- Is reliable
- Has an outwardly presentable demeanor & attitude
Dates: This is a temporary full-time position. Specific times will be discussed during interview process.
Pay Details: Starting at $20/hr. Higher rates may be offered for potential staff with significant experience. Payments will be made weekly.
