Job Summary:

The Quality Technician continuously monitors the food safety and quality attributes of raw materials as well as the compliance of production, packaging, and coding of finished products to meet company and customer standards.

Essential Functions:

· Monitors, tests, and keeps records of the production of finished products, including checking for defects in raw material, workmanship, packaging and labeling, chemical attributes and psychical performance attributes.

· Maintains operational performance, preventative maintenance, and collaboration of food safety and regulatory compliance instruments and equipment (scales, checkweighers, metal detectors, and x-rays).

· Records significant amounts of collected data onto paper records, computer spreadsheet, and computer databases.

· Checks incoming raw materials against specifications and company provided standards to ensure food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality compliance are met.

· Investigates and report defects in materials to Quality manager, Microwave Production Manager, and Purchasing Manager.

· Locates placards and segregates defective or suspect raw materials and finished products to prohibit their use.

· Helps to establish and maintain good manufacturing and quality practices as well as procedures to reduce and eliminate non-compliance, risks and losses due to deviations from food safety, legality, and company quality standards.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent, or one-year related experience in a quality control role.

· Experience in a food-manufacturing environment is preferred.

Reasoning Ability:

· Ability to interpret written, oral, and schedule instructions.

· Ability to recognize and investigate the causes of mechanical failures, and to recognize the potential effect they may cause to food safety, regulatory standards, and quality standards of the company.
