Job Summary: The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to ensure efficient manufacture of products. This role involves collaborating with various departments to meet production goals and maintain smooth and efficient flow of materials and information. The Planner keeps accurate records of production orders and communicates status to management.

Essential Functions:

  • Initiate planning process based on customer orders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to meet customer demands.
  • Monitor shop workload and capacity, ensuring necessary resources are available.
  • Coordinate with Production Management team to optimize shop capacity and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with procurement team to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
  • Follow up on purchase orders and monitor work orders for timely delivery.
  • Analyze production data to identify and resolve bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
  • Alert relevant departments to potential problems, recommend remedial actions, and update management on work status, material availability, and issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and work-in-progress using the ERP/MRP systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing and other teams.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Apply independent judgment to critical production planning decisions.
  • Guide and assist junior planners as needed.
  • Perform other relevant tasks and duties as assigned to support production objectives.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract obligations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification is preferred such as Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operation Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, inventory management, materials control, and processing work orders in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in an AS9100 environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems; Infor VISUAL preferred.
  • Ability to understand and interpret Bill of Materials (BOM) preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, with strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

We are open to considering candidates with varying levels of experience based on their skills and qualifications.

Level 1 Qualification:

  • Up to 5 years of experience in production planning or equivalent proven skills and expertise in a related role.

Level 2 Qualification:

  • 5+ years of experience in production planning or equivalent proven skills and expertise in a related role.

Level 3 Qualification:

  • 10+ years of experience in production planning or equivalent proven skills and expertise in a related role.

Job Title: Program Planner

Reports To: Production Manager

Job Type: Full time

Salary Range: $26 to $38 per hour ($54,000 to $79,000 per year). This estimated range represents a good faith projection of what we believe is a competitive compensation range for this position. Please understand that the offered salary will be determined based on factors such as the applicant's credentials, experiences, and the specific requirements of the role, as well as potential internal equity and external market considerations.
