The general function of the Continuous Improvement Specialist will be to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost, and increase customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and facilitate process improvement projects, and training to drive cultural change.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing business and assembly issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity, facility design and create process documentation.
- Carrying out advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping, developing budgets, and cost analysis to determine project feasibility.
- Develop and conduct compliance audits, program evaluations, and reviews to drive results with the fortitude to ensure change is permanent in waste, sanitation, safety, and FIFO.
- Improves policies, procedures, and processes.
- Manages the Continuous Improvement Program.
- Work with the plant management team to establish, maintain, and complete a CI calendar of events (Rapid Improvement Events), Self-Assessments, training, etc.).
- Implement continuous improvement best practices within the plant.
- Generate and formulate equipment and vehicle reports and records
- Recommend improvements, including capital items to upgrade operations, reduce cost, and improve quality
- Implement preventative maintenance procedures and ensure they are accomplished at the lowest possible cost
- Design, organize, and maintain specialized and custom forms, records, reports, files, and logs to support work processes in areas of assigned responsibility
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets
- Ability to negotiate the purchase of equipment, materials, supplies, and or services from vendors and suppliers
- Prepare requisitions and purchase orders
- Participate in the generation of new cost-saving ideas as well as review and analysis of new ideas to determine if benefits derived justify project selection.
- Any other duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Training in Lean manufacturing & 5S principles
- Strong leadership skills, ability to learn and apply new concepts and overcome obstacles with change.
- Ability to work with and influence others in a fast-paced environment.
Language Skills:
Written: ability to read, interpret, and comprehend simple instructions and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies/procedures manuals; ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written instructions.
Oral: Ability to convey messages, ideas, and expectations through the effective use of words, body language, and voice tone in person and in telephone conversations with residents, staff members, supervisors, and other employees of the company.
Listening: Ability to take in and understand spoken messages by being attentive and by using skills to understand the meaning behind a person’s words.
Physical Demands & PPE:
- Frequent sitting and some walking and standing
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Walk on uneven ground and wet or slippery floors
- Twisting, turning, kneeling, stooping, and bending most of the day
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to spices (allergens) including but not limited to soy and wheat
- Exposure to high noise levels and high heat environment
PPE - Slip-resistant shoes, bump caps, hair and beard net, safety glasses and ear plugs are required in the manufacturing and work areas, and gloves are recommended.
