Part-Time Hours:

34 hours every two weeks is needed.

  • The non-negotiable hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 4:15-9:15 pm. Every four weeks, work a weekend: Sat. 8:45 am-5:15 pm (8 hrs. with 30 min. break) and Sun. 12:45-5:15 pm (4.5 hrs.).
  • To meet the required 34 hours every two weeks, you can either work longer hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays or choose to work an additional weekday.
  • The scheduling of these additional hours will be discussed and agreed upon with your supervisor.

Salary:

$21.27 - $26.59/hr. $26.59 is the midpoint. Offers are made within this range based on competency, experience, and internal equity.

Position Details:

The Addison Public Library is seeking a friendly, creative, and customer-focused person to help patrons with their information needs, from basic technology questions to finding that book they once read with the green cover. Your role in connecting patrons to these resources is crucial and valued. You'll also have the opportunity to work on programs, special projects, and participate in library-wide committees.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing support for adult programming, including participation in planning, scheduling, and presentation of programs.
  • Promoting the Library's collection through eye-catching displays and other marketing activities
  • Focusing on internal public desk coverage and behavior monitoring
  • Serving patrons primarily inside the building, but there may be opportunities to represent the Library out in the community.

Qualifications:

  • LTA or bachelor's degree preferred. Directly related experience and/or enrollment in higher education may be considered in place of the degree requirement.
  • Two years' customer service experience required.
  • Evening and weekend work required.
  • Access to transportation required.
