The Compliance Coordinator will provide leadership across the organization to implement the necessary frameworks and tools to support an effective culture of safety that includes quality assurance, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management, at all times ensuring Bluestem Health and its expansion sites are in line with local or national directions in areas of quality, risk management and patient safety.

Essential Duties:

  1. Patient Complaints and Grievances - The primary focus of this role is to ensure positive interactions and experiences with our patients.
    1. Manages the daily flow of all patient complaints and grievances
    2. Manages the patient complaints/grievances policies and procedures
    3. Researches and resolves patient issues as appropriate
    4. Reports data and trends to the Quality Assurance/ Risk Management Committee
    5. Trains Bluestem Health employees on the process of logging patient complaints and the investigation process
  2. Utilize the Plan Do Study Act process to ensure compliance across all departments in conjunction with the department manager.
  3. As a staff member of the Quality Committee of the Board, the Compliance Coordinator will support the Quality Committee in its’ focus on patient safety, quality, and risk management.
  4. Provide direction and oversight in establishing and maintaining methods for monitoring compliance with Bluestem Health's Risk Management Plan and Quality Improvement Plan.
  5. Establish methods, such as conducting periodic audits, developing effective lines of communication on compliance issues, and preparing written practice standards and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of services.
  6. Responsible for preparing and updating emergency preparedness information for volunteers and students who furnish services.
  7. Maintain required departmental records, reports, and files necessary to ensure proper documentation of Quality and Compliance program.
  8. Maintains established agency policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  9. Performs regular 340B audits and ensures compliance according to the 340B manual.
  10. Follows state, federal, and local recommendations for training.
  11. Keeps a current list of chemicals and products requiring an MSDS when aware of new items received
  12. Responsible for Incident Reporting system, prepares quarterly reports for QA/RM Meeting, investigates all incidents as appropriate and updates results, and coordinates after-action plan if there is a pattern of incidents happening
  13. Conduct and direct logistics to provide emergency preparedness and risk management orientation for new employees
  14. Maintains OSHA logs for blood born pathogen exposures
  15. Attends meetings and events to maintain participation and memberships with coalitions and city/state agencies
  16. Updates MOA/MOU with members in relation to emergency preparedness
  17. Updates ICS facility team documents and provides training to the ISC team members.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in a health science or Nursing degree, preferred

· 3+ Years experience in Health Care

· Computer skills required, Electronic Medical Record preferred

· Excellent problem solving skills

· Highly organized and ability to meet deadlines

· Attentive to detail, quality and accuracy

· Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision

· Ability to interrelate with wide variety of people

· Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
