Technical Skills:

  • Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC 61131 PLC Programming languages i.e., Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text or any other PLC programming language
  • Design, test, and commission control systems. i.e., systems with different PLC controllers in the same system, experience interfacing, designing controls with different manufacturers
  • Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms. Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture
  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings and apply them to design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements.
  • Customize PLC software and hardware templates.
  • Understand in detail the applicable NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls.
  • Understand protective relays, their functions associated with Generator, and Utility protection applications.

Soft Skills:

  • Understand the design philosophy, operation, and control of complex PLC based systems.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time.
  • Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • 5-7 years' experience required.
  • Willing to take master's with 3+ years' experience.
  • Willing to take 2-year degree with 7+ years' experience.
  • Internships etc. will be counted towards experience.
