IT Support Specialist

Position Overview:
This vital IT/Administrative/Support Services Specialist position provides essential support services for employees, supervisors, and executive level staff within the Howard K. Hill Funeral Home by implementing systems, procedures, and policies that ensure the efficient operation of the company’s systems. IT Specialists maintain and improve the technical systems of a company to ensure all employees have the technology they need to complete their work and the organization’s important files and information remain safe and intact. As the Administrative Support Specialist, the duties may include fielding telephone calls, assisting with funeral and event arrangements, receiving, and directing visitors, word processing, filing and oversight of various assigned functions. This position requires the application of strong communication, computer, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems
- Implement security measures
- Monitor security certificates and company compliance of requirements
- Offer technical support to company staff and troubleshoot computer problems
- Install and update company software and hardware as needed
- Anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating computer items
- Telephone Management: Answering phone, fielding calls, delivering messages.
- Enter cases into internal software, filing of appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.
- Post payments to open contracts.
- Assist all departments as needed, Funeral Directors, Office Manager, internal staff & part time staff in clerical duties, support, backup, etc.
- IT specialist provides direct support to users across the organization.
- May help set up hardware or software, diagnose connectivity or data access problems, answering questions about hardware or software, and help users access shared drives and devices.
- May assist with troubleshooting systems and hardware, particularly after server migration or an organization-wide update.
- The IT specialist identifies issues with new hardware or software and works with users or on the back end of servers to quickly resolve those issues and prevent delays.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school or equivalent work experience
- Associates degree or Bachelors’ degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years office IT, clerical and/or customer service experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient Knowledge of computers, MS Office, e-mail, and internet required
- Basic knowledge of AV – Audio/Video experience required
- Proficient in Adobe Suites/photoshop and how to clean up and enhance photos preferred

Work Hours:
- Work hours may include occasional evening and weekend hours as necessary.
