Summary/Objective

Conductor will work with the operator VDC to safely and efficiently pull/spot rail cars in and out of facility. Conductor will lead these activities from the ground directing the movements of on-track rail equipment. Once rail spotting is completed or rail loading is completed for the day will assist operator and other conductor in plating/unplating of rail cars and opening/closing rail car doors. Once rail activities are completed will assist the rest of employees in unloading or loading of finished vehicles. Conductor will understand objectives for the day and goals set by Asst Terminal Manager. Know all functions of job scope and how to perform all job duties in your department. Assist in training all new employees in standards and protocols. Ensure all Amports safety regulations and railroad safety rules are met by personnel in your department.

  • Help team in areas of need to complete tasks for the day.
  • Once rail activities are completed will assist rest of employees in unloading/loading rail cars.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports.

Work Environment

Physical Demands

Moderate physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of a primarily production/technical nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items and lift 40 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily 8 hours each day, five days a week. This position often requires overtime.

Travel

This position does not have any travel requirements.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Education and Experience

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain eRailSafe certificate.
