Summary/Objective
Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of on-track equipment. Operator will work with the conductor(s) to safely and efficiently move rail cars in and out of the facility. Operator will in addition assist with conductor(s) in opening/closing rail car doors and plating/unplating rail cars. Once rail activities are completed, the operator will assist the rest of employees with unloading/loading of rail cars. Operator will understand objectives for the day and goals set by Asst Terminal Manager. Know all functions of job scope and how to perform all job duties in your department. Operator will assist in training all new employees in standards and protocols. Maintain equipment inspection log and keep current. Ensure all Amports safety regulations and Port regulations are met.
Essential Functions
- Ensure all Amports ports safety regulations are met.
- Ensure all railroad safety rules are met.
- Ensure cleanliness of equipment/area.
- Assist in training new employees in standards and protocols.
- Ensure equipment inspection logs are maintained and kept current.
- Understand objectives for the day and goals set by Ast Terminal Manager.
- Know all functions and job scopes and how to perform.
- Help team in areas of need to complete tasks for the day.
- Assist rest of employees with unloading/loading of rail cars

Work Environment
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned equipment, production setting, outdoor/indoor environment or enclosed vehicle with adequate ventilation and exposure at times to extreme weather conditions.
Physical Demands
Moderate physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of production/technical nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily 8 hours each day, five days a week. This position often requires overtime.
Travel
This position does not have any travel requirements.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Education and Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain eRailSafe certification.
