Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Board-Certified MRI Technologist to join our esteemed sports medicine and orthopedic clinic, where we specialize in providing excellent care to patients from our local community and around the world.

The MRI Technologist will be instrumental in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services tailored to orthopedic conditions and injuries. This position requires expertise in MRI procedures, a solid understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy, and a dedication to delivering compassionate patient care.

We are seeking an excited and self-motivated certified MRI Specialist to work alongside all of our providers. Our MRI services will be located at our Hoover – Highway 280 clinic, located in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform precise MRI scans on patients with orthopedic conditions and injuries, adhering to physician orders and established clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and healthcare providers to obtain diagnostic images that support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Position patients carefully on the MRI machine bed, providing necessary support and instructions to ensure optimal image quality while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Adjust MRI equipment parameters and imaging techniques as necessary to capture detailed images of bones, joints, soft tissues, and other musculoskeletal structures.
  • Monitor patients throughout the MRI procedure, addressing any concerns or discomfort promptly and ensuring their well-being and cooperation.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient information, imaging data, and procedural details, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Educate patients about the MRI process, including preparation instructions and expectations, to enhance their understanding and cooperation.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating MRI appointments, ensuring efficient workflow and timely access to diagnostic services for orthopedic patients.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient care plans, share insights from MRI findings, and contribute to comprehensive treatment strategies.
  • Stay updated on advances in orthopedic imaging technology and techniques, participating in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Work as a team member with the imaging department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Alabama state licensure or certification to practice as an MRI Technologist.
  • Previous experience working as an MRI Technologist in an orthopedic clinic or musculoskeletal imaging setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in musculoskeletal MRI imaging techniques, with a strong understanding of orthopedic conditions and anatomy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with orthopedic surgeons, patients, and healthcare team members.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while working efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, with a focus on delivering compassionate and personalized services to orthopedic patients.
  • National registration with the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (AART)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to assist patients with mobility limitations or injuries, including lifting and positioning as needed for MRI scans.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate MRI equipment and perform technical tasks accurately.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and move around the MRI suite comfortably.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members, including those who may require special accommodations or support.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily takes place in an orthopedic clinic setting, with exposure to patients of varying ages and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure a clean and safe MRI environment.
  • Occasional participation in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, or outreach events to support the clinic's mission.
