This is a full-time volunteer position through an Americorps program, Digital Navigation Corps.
JOB PURPOSE:
Digital Navigators will conduct program participant intakes, design individualized Digital Development Plans, and provide digital literacy instruction at host sites. Digital Navigators will support program participant certification through one-on-one mentorship and group tutoring using Northstar Digital Literacy. They will also update or create digital resource guides and make referrals to program participants based on participant intake self-identified goals. Digital Navigators will evaluate program effectiveness through post-participation follow-up surveys that track 1) program participants’ increased confidence in digital literacy skills and 2) employment gains. Digital Navigators will serve in-person and virtually at their host site.

Digital Navigation Corps is a program of Literacy Minnesota, an organization that connects people to transformative learning, sparks innovation in literacy and mobilizes change. Literacy Minnesota envisions a future where literacy eliminates injustices and strengthens communities. The literacy work that began 50 years ago in Minnesota is now nationwide, providing curriculum, classes, workshops and research to partners and learners. Digital Navigation Corps is Literacy Minnesota’s response to the digital skills-gap that impacts communities across the country. Built on a longstanding tradition of service, and pioneering the newest resources in digital learning, Digital Navigation Corps addresses critical digital literacy needs by bringing Digital Navigators to work alongside community members who are striving to reach their professional goals. Digital navigators will support community members through one-on-one mentorship, classroom-based instruction, and resource guide creation and referrals.
About Twin Cities RSE
Twin Cities RSE (TCR) has been providing free, comprehensive workforce development for underemployed and unemployed individuals since 1993. Through Personal Empowerment, career training, and meaningful employment, we help participants acquire the relevant skills today’s employers seek out—and in doing so, we create positive generational change. Annually we serve nearly 500 individuals in the 7 county Metro Area.
Twin Cities RSE’s workforce development program includes dedicated career pathways training, Personal Empowerment curriculum (including emotional intelligence), internship opportunities, personalized coaching, supportive services, and connection to employers, with a guaranteed interview. We work with participants for up to 2 years to obtain career growth and long-term sustainability.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with TCR’s Education Services to work cross-functionally with other TCR operating areas to coordinate effective communication strategies and coordinate strategies to maximize outcomes of the educational benchmark targets established for the organization.
- Assist participants entering TCR programs with learning basic computer skills including; basic typing skill, mouse/keyboard use, database understanding, finding a document and attaching it to an email, and ability to use online systems like job applications, Word, or Google docs.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures associated with digital literacy. Identify needed policies or policy clarifications to meet the changing needs of participants and the organization.
- Administer and manage the Digital Literacy program to facilitate virtual and in person learning strategies for the organization.
- Assist in the development of TCR’s Digital Literacy Guide to direct facilitation approaches, policies, and processes aligned to TCR’s educational strategy.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement new program initiatives consistent with the educational strategy and organizational needs of TCR digital Literacy (Northstar).
- Develop and lead digital literacy assessments with all program applicants before, during, and post cohort completion of career track training. Assess the participants' needs and support them with one-one guidance or classroom digital literacy training based on needs.
- Facilitate a regularly scheduled digital literacy training which would be done virtually, hybrid, and/or in person.
- Communicate effectively with TCR Outreach, Education, and Coaching staff to support individual participants before, during, and post cohort completion.
- Administer and analyze the assessment data gathered and maintain an ongoing profile of TCR participants for strategy development and support.
Quantifiable outputs or outcome goals are as follows:
- 80% of people who are admitted complete the required assessment.
- 60% of participants enrolled report an improvement in digital literacy skills.
- 50% of people who are enrolled attend at least one digital literacy session or segment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A - This position does not supervise any staff.

- US citizen, national or lawful permanent resident
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of all required criminal history checks
- At least 18 years old by first day of service

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to use a PC/laptop, requiring repetitive motion of fingers, hands and wrists.
- Required to occasionally move about in an office environment to access file cabinets, printers, etc., and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Required to move about in a classroom during training facilitation.
- Ability to lift light materials and equipment in the typical office environment (up to 15 pounds).
- Ability to be on video calls, with camera on, for all meetings.
- Willingness to be flexible with work hours to accommodate the needs of the organization.
Work Environment:
- Typical office environment
- Work schedule: Occasional evenings and/or weekends will be required (workweek will be adjusted accordingly).
- Travel requirements: Ability to travel to various sites for occasional meetings and events.
- Location/structure of work: Position is hybrid; employee will be expected to work in office and from home.
TERM OF SERVICE: October 7, 2024-October 6, 2025. Full-time service, 40 hours per week. Digital Navigators must serve a minimum of 1700 hours to successfully complete their service term. If Digital Navigator completes their 1700 hours before the official end date, they may have the option to end their service term earlier (with supervisor approval).
TIME REQUIREMENTS: Monday through Friday 9am-5pm, some evenings may be required. Required Twin Cities RSE meetings include in-person and virtual All Staff Meeting, bi-weekly team meeting, weekly check-in meeting.
