KVC is currently looking to hire a Resident Coordinator that will work with youth in foster care at Fairmont State University.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; degree in social services preferred but not required.

Licensure/Certification:
License by the West Virginia Board of Social Work Examiners or equivalent preferred but nor required.

Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.

Experience: Minimum two years’ experience in children and family services, with preferable knowledge working with teenage youth in foster care.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Residential Coordinator position will be responsible for supervising Student Success Specialist, and Student Success Workers, manage operations and ensure the well-being of youth. Oversee daily activities, academics of youth. Will live in provided housing.

Staff members are expected to work with children and families, community partners and each other using KVC values of Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Open Honest Communication, Teamwork and Continuous Improvement. Additionally, staff members are expected to be a role model for children and families, be solutions focused and build upon their strengths. KVC policies employees are also expected to maintain knowledge of and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned according to qualification of staff and development of programs.

The Resident Coordinator will:

  • Build a child welfare system that is safe, secure, and stable; family centered, and connected to the community
  • Provide supervision and guidance to Student Support Specialist and Student Support Workers. Including completing reviews.
  • Adhere to and implement scheduling for Student Support Specialist and Student Support Workers.
  • Provide youth with support of general life skills and mentorship.
  • Provide and lead youth group activities to build social skills, life skills as well as academic skills.
  • Create and engage recreational activities that are youth centered.
  • Be a member of the youth’s treatment team and provide feedback on progress as needed.
  • Coordinate tutors and activities to promote academic achievement.
  • Utilize foster care case management components to ensure youth wellbeing needs are addressed
  • Travel and transport Youth (possibly to multiple counties in a service area) and work with youth in a variety of settings that may include, home, school, and community.
  • Required evening/overnight/weekend work to ensure safety, security of Residence Hall operations.
  • Will provide supervision as per policy to Student Support Specialist and student Support Workers.
  • Have knowledge of de-escalation techniques (MANDT) and receive training in CPR/First Aid.
  • Coordinates and communicates with Fairmont State University, director of housing.
  • Will ensure the security of the building through regular rounds.
  • Will maintain a monthly journal, or at the discretion of the Director a log to keep track of regular communication with residents.
  • Will enforce the rules and regulations of University Housing. Should know and support University and/or residence hall rules. Will document all violations and participate as required in the student conduct system.
  • Will attend regular departmental meetings.
  • Will participate actively in departmental committees.
  • Will respond to crisis situations in the residence halls 24 hours a day when they are in the hall/on duty.
  • Coordinate and administer the overall Residence Life Program, including both student development and operations components, in assigned residence halls.
  • Ensure compliance of staff with established Residence Life policies and procedures.
  • Meet with youth and address youth referred for disciplinary concerns enact appropriate disciplinary procedures based on KVC and Fairmont State Student Conduct Guidelines.
  • Manage operational functions for apartment complex such as key distribution and collection, damage assessment, reporting and billing, maintenance requests and hall openings and closings.
  • Serve as a facility manager for apartment complex including conducting apartment checks, reporting, and following up on housekeeping, maintenance and move requests.
  • Assume “on-call responsibility for all area residence halls on a scheduled basis.
  • Will serve as a resource, referral, and communications agent, which may include distributing paperwork, flyers, and brochures.
  • Serve as a liaison between residents and the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
  • Participate in administrative supervision as requested.
  • Provide direct services per Middle College program. State, and contract guidelines.
  • Ensure services follow all regulatory standards and contract terms and conditions.
  • Complete all required paperwork and follow agency policies and procedures within timelines, to ensure smooth paperwork flow.
  • Acquires and develops resources to meet identified needs of youth as needed.
  • Provide positive feedback to youth and staff.
  • Provide culturally relevant and sensitive services to youth.
  • This position will require that the Resident Coordinator live in provided housing on campus year around.
  • Observe children/youth for signs of abuse and/or neglect.
  • Maintain a working relationship and communicates with Fairmont State University, DHHR, Schools and community partners.
  • Understand contract requirements and work to improve contract specific outcomes. Attend meetings, seminars, and other educational functions as identified by the supervisor or agency director.
  • Complete KVC required trainings under ADP Learning and annual courses according to agency schedule.
