  1. POSITION SUMMARY: The Janitorial Technician is responsible for performing all aspects of custodial work at Pearl Buck Center and for helping support the team by teaching and training others as needed. The Janitorial Technician will work under the support and guidance of the Janitorial Manager as well as the Janitorial Technician II. In some cases a Job Coach may also assist in direction and job skills training and development.

  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Perform general janitorial duties including, but not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning, dry mopping, wet mopping, sweeping and restroom cleaning
    • Perform or support general floor care procedures including, but not limited to: carpet shampooing, stripping, waxing, and buffing resilient floors
    • Use hand tools and other janitor related tools and equipment to perform tasks as directed

  1. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Maintain awareness of procedures for the safe use of chemicals
    • Work independently with minimal instruction or supervision as directed
    • Maintain responsibility for the quality of work performed
  2. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Ability to pass an Oregon Department of Human Services background check
    • Experience with janitorial work preferred but not required

  1. PHYSICAL DEMAND:
    • The physical effort typically applied in this job may include: Pushing, Pulling, Lifting (50 lbs.), Carrying, Reaching, Bending, Standing, Walking, Speaking and Repetition. Much of this will depend on the specific demands of the task
  2. MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND:
    • Frequent mental and visual focus is required while performing duties particularly when working with chemicals.
  3. WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Work conditions will typically be indoors in a climate controlled environment
    • Outdoor work may be required with exposure to weather conditions
    • Work conditions may at times include exposure to dust or cleaning chemicals
    • Appropriate personal protective equipment will be supplied if needed

  1. ATTENDANCE:
    • The Janitorial Technician position requires availability based on business need
    • It is imperative that attendance protocols are adhered to and that Department Call-In Policies are maintained at all times
    • Co-workers depend on you being on the job and on time

  1. SAFETY:
    • There is never a good reason to risk your own personal safety or that of a co-worker, client or business partner.
    • Being pro-active to prevent injuries or incidents is an expectation
    • All injuries or incidents, no matter how small, must be reported
  2. FSLA:
    • The position of Janitorial Technician is a non-exempt position
    • Non-Exempt positions are eligible for overtime pay
