Job DescriptionJob Description

Our long term Pregnant & Parenting Women’s Program (PPW) offers individualized, high quality treatment for women with substance use disorder and co-occurring histories of trauma, abuse, violence, depression, mood disorders, and PTSD. PPW provides a unique opportunity for mothers to experience and participate in treatment exclusively designed for them during their early parenting years. Children under age 5 may stay with mom during treatment and will participate in therapeutic childcare while mom is working on her recovery.

Program has multidisciplinary staff of integrated mental health, addiction, and primary health care professionals focused on serving persons early in recovery from addiction. Key management are dually licensed professionals, bringing expertise in serving persons with co-occurring disorders. Monthly consultation with a nationally-recognized addiction psychiatrist part of clinical support.

A secure attachment to a primary caregiver is the biggest predictor of long-term social and emotional well-being. The Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Specialists at Evergreen Recovery Centers help young children and their caregivers to encourage bonding, create secure attachment relationships, and ultimately develop attachment capabilities for the child that will transfer to all relationships over the child’s lifetime.

We are seeking to expand our Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Program by hiring an additional Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (IECMHS) that wants to provide health, hope and well-being to families impacted by substance use disorder and trauma. Program includes 50-child daycare as well as 6-month residence in recovery setting, and continuation of IECMHS services after discharge from residential.

Born in 2020 from the “Washington State Families Together Initiative” funded by the Perigee Fund, Evergreen’s Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Program is part of a local collaborative working to prevent or reduce infant-parent separation and support connection and healing for families in Washington State. New facility completing construction this summer includes designated IECMHS offices with observation room and unit for pediatric transitional care unit.

PRIMARY TASKS:

Maintain assigned caseload using a relational, attachment based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive therapy approach. Provide IECMH consultation and support to childcare staff. Carry out a variety of tasks aimed to enhance the clinical team’s knowledge of child development and strengths-based parenting. Provide expertise on infant development and its relationship to nurturance, neonatal temperament and the process of bonding and infant/parent interaction.

  • Provide therapeutic services to young children with child welfare involvement and their caregivers, specifically in regards to reunification.
