Applerouth is looking to hire experienced teachers or tutors to go in-home for one-on-one test prep tutoring. Able to service the Chicago North Shore area with in-home tutoring. ( Winnetka, Glenview, Highland Park and Lake Forest...) Applicants must be willing to tutor all sections of both the SAT and ACT - this, after comprehensive paid training, of course - however, a baseline knowledge of high school ELA & math content is needed.

Applerouth is a group of passionate educators seeking Test Prep Tutors excited to work at a growing educational services company. New tutors go through paid training to provide them with extensive knowledge of both the SAT and ACT, as well as pedagogical strategies to help tutor different types of students. We also provide regular supplemental training to help tutors stay aware of changes to both tests and pedagogy. Applerouth tutors believe students are more than a score. That's why we keep our focus fixed on building better learners for life.  

We expect applicants to have the following: Empathy, Creativity, Strong communication skills, and a desire to help others. Tutors create custom lesson plans using industry-leading materials and prep weekly leading up to the student's target test date(s).

Applerouth tutors generally work with around 5-10 students at a time, a mix of online students and in-person students. Sessions are scheduled for once a week and typically in advance. They last between 90 minutes and 2 hours, and lead up to target test dates. The specific schedule is coordinated between the tutor and the student's family.

Requirements

  • SAT, ACT, or other standardized test scores.
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Most sessions will occur in students' homes or a mutually amenable location.
  • High-speed internet.
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience is required.
