Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze insurance applications, financial statements, and other relevant data to assess risk.
  • Determine the terms and conditions of coverage, including premiums, coverage limits, and exclusions.
  • Evaluate the likelihood and potential cost of claims to set appropriate pricing.
  • Communicate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information and clarify underwriting policies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and changes in the insurance market.
  • Make recommendations to approve or decline insurance coverage.
  • Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and support documentation.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as claims and risk management, to ensure comprehensive risk assessment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Underwriter or in a similar role within the insurance industry.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance policies, risk assessment, and pricing strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
