Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales to lead our sales team to success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property and casualty insurance, possess excellent leadership and communication skills, and have a proven track record of building and nurturing distribution channels and relationships nationwide. The Director of Sales must be an excellent leader and manager, and will be responsible for relationship building, strategic growth, sales forecasting and reporting, and process optimization.

Role and Responsibilities

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules and requirements for attendance.  The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully: 

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Territory Managers and Business Development Representatives to meet and exceed targets, ensure that the team adheres to the company's sales process and business practices, regularly evaluate the performance of the sales team through monitoring of KPIs and provide feedback.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key agency partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and represent the company nationwide.
  • Enforce and refine the sales process to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, and collaborate with other departments, including marketing, customer experience and product, to align strategies and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand our independent agency distribution channels and foster and strengthen relationships with associations and other potential partners.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts to company leadership and analyze sales metrics and trends to identify areas of improvement and opportunity.
  • Implement sales strategies and workflows across the sales department to enhance productivity and sales effectiveness.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales management experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of property and casualty insurance products, market dynamics, and sales processes.
  • Proficient in Salesforce and/or other CRM software tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a sales team.
  • Proven track record of building and expanding distribution channels.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of creating and analyzing quantifiable measurements of strategies and processes.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Skills

  • 2-20 License.
  • Master’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
