Job Summary:

The Manufacturing and Production Leader coordinates, supervises and monitors the activities and workflow on their respective line to ensure that all production objectives and quality standards are achieved according to pre-established goals, standards and metrics.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. All duties associated with TL as needed.
  2. Start of shift and mid-shift walkthroughs to determine each area's attendance and any affect to production. Will work with area leadership and Group Leader (GL) to determine movement of headcount to support production without impact to safety or quality.
  3. Will communicate with B-shift line Leadership, Department GL, Department Assistant Manager (AM) during shift. In case of safety, quality, production and personnel issues, the Coordinator will be point of contact between onsite Manufacturing group, offsite Manufacturing Management and support departments (QA, QE, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Facilities and Security)
  4. Manage and share a report including Attendance, Safety, Quality, and production details throughout the shift.
  5. Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing level production issues along with line leadership and support groups. Required to assist in tasks involving technical skills, including measurements, JIG part placement, and machine setup.
  6. Special tasks and assignments determined by the Department Manager and Assistant Manager outside of typical daily tasks that may make the coordinator unavailable to all departments. (Focus needed on Safety, quality issues, breakdown, headcount shortage, TM training, audits, new projects process prep.)
  7. Coordination and communication between relevant departments during special events such as communication meetings, training, inclement weather events/delays, evacuations, etc.
  8. Provide initial safety incident support to the Team Members. Communicate to appropriate leadership, management and support groups (such as Safety and Security) to implement short-term countermeasures to ensure hazards no longer exist, while reporting to Management so additional measures can be implemented.
  9. Conducts safety audits and monitors/enforces PPE standards, unsafe acts, broken machine guarding, slippery conditions and safety devices.
  10. Follow procedures regarding an identified quality problem such as sort procedure per department, part marking and containment, manufacturing management, communication, external department communication, implementation of short-term countermeasures to ensure no reoccurrence prior to management assessing and implementing additional measures and reports out to Management
  11. Quality standard support - audits, monitors quality risks, including standardized work, part handling, part marking, measurement technique, lineside documentation for accuracy and completion
  12. Perform new hire training, including EHS checklist, walkthrough and Steel Group PowerPoint as needed.
  13. Work overtime as needed to support production, including weekend work.

Accountabilities:

  1. Continuous Improvement-Kaizen Events
  2. Creating and Management a safe work environment-conducts accident investigations-countermeasures
  3. Effective First line supervision
  4. Maintaining production standards and achieving target availability
  5. Manage Overtime
  6. Complete all reports (EOS)
  7. Maintain acceptable levels of TM Morale-Increase TM Satisfaction in areas of "Communication"

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. A minimum of a high School diploma and at least 2 years of manufacturing experience
  2. Production and Processing Quality- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, 3 Pillar, and other standards and techniques for maximizing quality and availability.
  3. Mechanical - general knowledge of machines and tools, measurement instruments, automation/robotics, maintenance and repair.
  4. Labor and Employment Laws - Knowledge of labor laws that prohibit discrimination in the workplace connected to hires, transfers, promotions, demotions, training, sexual harassment and OSHA/Safety regulations and standards.
  5. Computer Knowledge-- MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  6. Active Listening - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  7. Speaking - talking to others clearly to convey information effectively.
  8. Coordination - adjusting actions in relation to others' actions and handling multiple tasks at the same time.
  9. Critical Thinking - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  10. Coaching: Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the quality candidates for hire and promotion.
  11. Continuous Improvement-Knowledge of Kaizen.
