Floating Sub/Behavior Assistant Position Description & Responsibilities:

As a floating sub, you will support both primary and elementary classrooms as needed to fill critical gaps. This will include substitute classroom coverage for both Guides, Specials Teachers, Assistants, and Dedicated Aides. As a behavior assistant, you will be responsible for delivering interventions and for responding in-the-moment to student needs, disruptions, and crises. This will include physical restraint following appropriate training. Other responsibilities will include:


  • Recess and Lunch Duty; 
  • Material making and classroom preparation; 
  • Records keeping and assessment;
  • Transition support to Lunch, Recess, and Specials Classes; 
  • Assist with Specials Classes;
  • Collaborate with staff members;
  • Other tasks as needed.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 3 years classroom experience, preferably in a public or urban setting.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to integrate data and assessment with traditional Montessori curriculum in order to close the achievement gap for our students
  • Have flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions; ability and good judgment to take initiative to modify activities
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have the ability to collaborate with general education and special education colleagues, parents and community
  • Demonstrate a passion for public schools
  • Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards


Compensation and Benefits

Lee Montessori PCS offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package and a salary commensurate with experience (based on our salary table for classroom assistants); salary starting at $37,180. The position is a 10-month position.
