Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial HVAC Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to providing top-quality service to our clients.

Essential Functions
  • Installation: Install new HVAC systems and components, including ductwork, piping, electrical connections, and controls, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local codes.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Tasks include cleaning, inspecting, and testing components.
  • Repair: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in HVAC systems, including identifying and replacing defective parts, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring systems are running efficiently.
  • Testing: Conduct system tests and evaluations to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including service reports, maintenance logs, and parts used.
  • Customer Service: Interact professionally with clients, providing clear explanations of issues, proposed solutions, and maintenance tips. Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality work and timely service.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. This includes the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of materials.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians, supervisors, and office staff to coordinate work schedules, share knowledge, and support team goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be customer service oriented.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and control systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and testing equipment effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interacting and communicating daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
  • Experience with home improvement stores, big box retail, pharmacy, planograms, national rollouts, remodel, gondola, new stores, and experience with national racking standards (highly preferred)
  • Ability to evaluate problems objectively, fairly, and consistently and recommend solid courses of action.
  • Use miscellaneous technology (e.g. iPad, laptop, etc.)
  • Ability to drive company provided vehicle, pull a trailer, and travel overnight up to 25% of time.
  • Excellent and proven time management skills while working independently with minimal or no supervision.
  • Travel out of town, and willing to work weekends/nights when required

Physical Demands
  • Ability to push minimum 100 pounds (power cleaning appliances); ability to lift minimum 50 pounds (Demo trash and supplies).
  • Ability to climb ladder and step ladder.
  • Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that require physical exertion
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited HVAC training program is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Valid HVAC technician license and EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants.
