Media Relations Coordinator (Bi-lingual Korean)

1) About Us


SM & Kakao Entertainment America Corp. (SMKEA) is a subsidiary of SM Entertainment Co., Ltd. (SME). SME has pioneered the entertainment industry in Korea and is a total entertainment group leading the global Korean Wave and K-pop sensation. SME Group manages over 400 artists combined, including our own trained and cultivated musicians as well as other casted talents such as MCs, entertainers, actors, models, and influencers. SMKEA's mission is to focus on integrating various aspects of the company's global operations, including music distribution, artist global tour support, and global distribution of merchandise, into a cohesive system that will lead to the expansion of the company's global market presence and enhance its offerings to provide a more comprehensive experience for our fans. 

 

This position is specifically related to SMKEA's merchandise store. We carry fashion merchandise of our sensational K-pop groups and the majority of our sales support our artists so they can provide all of their fans with more music to enjoy. Our mission is to make it easier for all our artists' fans all around the world to purchase authentic, beloved artist products.  


2) Responsibilities


  • Work with Media Relations and Global teams to develop and support media strategy for all artists on the roster with a primary focus on English-speaking markets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media contacts across various platforms to secure coverage for our artists, album releases, tours, and events.
  • Create and distribute press releases, pitches, media kits, and other promotional materials that effectively communicate the unique aspects of our artists and projects.
    1. Fact-checking all materials before servicing externally and internally
  • Assist in coordinating, executing, and translating (when applicable) for onsite promotional activities and events as needed.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure media efforts align with overall strategies, maximizing exposure across platforms.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reports on the success and impact of campaigns to assess their effectiveness and make data-driven improvements as needed.
  • Communicate with US label partners and internal teams to track project progress and outstanding needs.
  • Provide basic admin support such as scheduling meetings and interviews, taking meeting notes, and circulating press clips.
  • Oversee and approve social copy/ community messaging as needed
  • Translate mock documents in English and Korean


3) Qualifications


  • Bilingual in Korean / English required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Writing and editing skills
  • Reliable transportation to Los Angeles
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite
