Job DescriptionJob Description

The production planner coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels and solving production problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY:

The successful Production Planner performs production scheduling and inventory control for the Roaring River plant.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedules production for the Roaring River facility
  • Conducts daily cycle counts to reconcile inventory
  • Partners with Logistics Leader to provide logistics and customer support
  • Controls inventory in multiple locations and works with computerized order entry system
  • Participates in training programs to enhance environmental and safety performance
  • Performs assigned tasks as specified in the environmental procedures and work instructions
  • Understands the significant environmental impacts of key job activities and the consequences of departing from specified work instructions
  • Offers situation specific solutions/options to customer needs through knowledge of associated production, inventory management, shipping and traffic operations.
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks quickly
  • Deals with changing production schedules to meet customer demands
  • Reconciles inventory and understands inventory adjustments
  • Effectively diagnoses and solves problems.
  • Must be highly computer literate
  • Participates in safety committees and activities


AUXILLARY REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma required, associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a production planning or related position preferred
  • Must have excellent written/verbal skills as well as analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have a positive attitude and project that to the customer, sales support, and staff
  • Must be capable of understanding and conveying basic product information
  • Possible occasional travel in the field
  • Accounting experience would be helpful
