The role, at a glance:

Biamp is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in analog design. In this role, you can expect to collaborate closely with a product development team of Engineers with multiple specializations. This position is within a cross-disciplinary team, responsible for the design of professional audio, video and control products from concept to production. 

How you'll contribute: 

  • Design products for next generation Audio-Video conferencing and distribution products. 
  • Interact with materials procurement, manufacturing and test personnel to ensure products are manufactured efficiently. 
  • Estimate new product costs.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

A successful candidate should have:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and developing digital and analog hardware. 
  • Theoretical and practical experience designing high performance Audio-Video circuits. 
  • Knowledge of ADC/DAC design and implementation concepts. 
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity concepts. 
  • Previous experience in designing products to meet regulatory requirements including UL, CE and FCC. 
  • Knowledge of serial communications protocols and hardware interfaces including I2S, I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, HDMI and DisplayPort. 
  • Strong background in the use of oscilloscopes, audio-precision analyzers, protocol analyzers, and other test equipment for debugging and analysis. 
  • Experience in specifying and verifying audio performance. 
  • Experience with Altium Schematic and PCB design tools or similar tools. 
  • Experience in circuit simulation using Spice, HyperLynx or similar tools. 
  • Experience in designing magnetics parts including inductors and transformers. 
  • Experience in AC-DC mains and DC-DC switch-mode power converter design. 
  • Good written communications skills to prepare specifications, lab reports, theories of operation, etc. 
Some nice-to-haves:
  • Theoretical and practical experience designing high performance, Class-D amplification products. 
  • Experience with Dante or AVB based audio distribution. 
  • Experience with POE or USB-C power delivery. 
  • RF design experience.
Work environment:
  • This is an onsite position based in either Beaverton, OR or Rochester, NY.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment.
