Position Summary

Concordia University is seeking applicants for the position of full-time Staff Clinical Therapist at the CUAA Ann Arbor, MI campus. This position is for immediate hire. Please only apply if you are able to start the position by August 15, 2024. The main purpose of the Staff Clinical Therapist is to provide enrolled Concordia University Ann Arbor students with clinical mental health services through individual psychotherapy on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The Staff Clinical Therapist may also be involved in the planning and/or creation of mental health and wellness events on campus. The position is a 10-month assignment from August through May of the academic year with summers off. This is a grant funded position, with funding for the 2024-25 academic year.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve students by conducting individual psychotherapy sessions
  • Keep appropriate medical record keeping documentation of contact with students seeking counseling services and assist CAPS in maintaining records
  • Create and provide mental health awareness/wellness seminars, workshops and events to and for a variety of campus constituents
  • Follow all policies and protocols of Concordia University Ann Arbor Counseling and Psychological Services
  • Respond to psychological emergencies on campus and make necessary recommendations and referrals
  • Coordinate referral opportunities or services off campus for students when appropriate
  • Work with CAPS staff to serve students in areas of mental health and wellness
  • Follow legal and ethical state license regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • 2 years of experience working providing psychotherapy to college-aged individuals (18-23 years old) in a clinical mental health setting
  • 2 years of competency in biopsychosocial and risk assessments including suicidality assessments
  • Cultural competency training and experience working with diverse populations
  • Must be supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod

Education & Experience

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology required
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Limited Licensed Masters Social Workers (LLMSW) are able to receive clinical supervision toward their full licensure in this position
