Position Overview:
This position works as part of a team and is responsible for the day-to-day operation and housekeeping of all facilities. Will ensure that the facilities operates efficiently and maintains housekeeping best practices staying within budgetary parameters for equipment, supplies and personnel expenses. Will direct the team of Janitors and Custodians and may be required to perform custodial duties in the absence of crew members or as otherwise needed. Though not common, Position may require working irregular hours or to rotate shifts as needed to meet with team members across shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee members of the janitorial/custodial team and outside contract cleaning services, direct their daily activities to ensure cleanliness and housekeeping of all the facilities.
• Schedule daily cleaning of office and manufacturing areas across multiple shifts and buildings.
• Schedule team member's work schedule as needed to provide coverage for operating shifts. Will approve time and attendance on payroll.
• Supervises preparations, set-ups and take downs for special events. Coordinates with other departments, as needed.
• Control expenses through waste reduction and comparison shopping on consumable products facility-wide. Will be single source for ordering supplies as needed for all facilities.
• Provides for service and repair of housekeeping equipment.
• Effectively communicate all issues/emergencies to the Maintenance and Facilities Director.
• Participates in the hiring process for new custodians/janitors, makes recommendations to the Maintenance and Facilities Director and Human Resources.
• Identifies training needs for the janitorial/custodial staff. Trains staff and ensures that performance standards are met.
• Will ensure daily cleaning of factory floors, using (Tennant) floor scrubbing equipment and hand mopping techniques. Schedule stripping/waxing of floors using high speed buffer/stripper machines.
• Manage the daily commute to other facilities to collect and transport (back to main facility) all generated material scrap and refuse, using our 26' box truck and company issued vehicles.
• Organize and maintain rack storage and floor space using fork trucks and pallet jacks, when needed.
• Coordinates evaluation process for assigned staff; provides substantial input to the Facilities Director.
• Coordinate outside pest control services.
• Oversee the cleanliness of parking lots and grounds. Manage the snow removal from stairs and walkways, salt when required.
• Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant situations.
• Engage and support companywide Safety and Cleanliness programs.
• Coordinate carpet cleaning services or do in house using owned steam cleaners and vacuums.
• On call availability on off hours and weekend when required for emergency response situations.
• Will perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of direct experience in janitorial/custodial services.
• High School Graduate.
• Computer literate.
• Ability to lead and effectively delegate to team members.
• Task oriented, excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload
• Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, self-motivated, creative and innovative.
• Ability to drive a non-CDL 26' Box truck.
• Ability to drive Stand Up and Sit-Down fork trucks.
• Knowledge of, and willingness to learn about, new mechanical or motorized cleaning equipment Ability to work (Tennant) floor scrubbing equipment. Ability to work high speed buffing and floor waxing/stripping equipment.
• Basic handy man skills for hanging signs, installing paper towel dispensers, soap dispensers, repair of flushing mechanisms, ability to use snakes and other means to unclog toilets, urinals, and other backed up waste lines.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred

Physical requirements and work environment:
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
• Must be able to sustain physical work for 8+ hours per day including the following:
• Standing
• Reaching and pulling
• Sight
• Walking through shop
• Bending, climbing and crouching.
• Office environment is of moderate noise level.
• Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.
• Grease, oil and water exposure.
• Sometimes subject to external weather conditions.
• Overtime and some weekends required.
