We are seeking an IT Network Security Engineer to design, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain secure network infrastructures. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, optimize network performance, and proactively address security threats. Responsibilities include maintaining network systems, performing security assessments, and troubleshooting to ensure high performance and efficiency. The role demands expertise in updating and managing security tools and technologies, and enforcing compliance with NIST 800-171 standards and other cybersecurity frameworks. Responsible for effective high-level provisioning, installation, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software and monitoring related infrastructure. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams, and relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP are highly valued. Position is located in Melbourne, FL and will involve some travel.  Individual will need to maintain a U.S. Passport or be able to obtain one upon hire.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and evaluate end-to-end systems and networks throughout their entire life cycle, ensuring robust security, high performance, and efficiency.
  • Configure, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure to meet the latest cybersecurity standards and compliance requirements.
  • Update firewall rules, implement access controls, and ensure network devices and operating systems are consistently updated with the latest firmware and security patches.
  • Conduct network performance management, including traffic analysis, bottleneck identification, and network configuration optimization for enhanced efficiency and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor the network for security threats, conduct vulnerability assessments, and analyze potential risks to proactively safeguard the system.
  • Respond to security incidents, conduct digital forensics, and enforce compliance with security policies.
  • Implement and manage continuous monitoring solutions aligned with NIST 800-171 standards.
  • Research and recommend advanced cybersecurity technologies and solutions.
  • Write, review, and update policies, procedures, SSP, POA&M, and other essential security documents regularly.
  • Apply CIS benchmarks or STIGs for configuration management and best practices in system security.
  • Prepare and conduct regular security awareness training for staff and employees.
  • This position requires occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and onsite assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of combined experience in network administration and cybersecurity.
  • Proficient in configuring and managing network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with Windows systems, including Microsoft AD and LDAP.
  • Knowledgeable in network security measures, cyber hardening, and vulnerability management.
  • Understanding of key cybersecurity frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, SOX ITGC, GDPR) and compliance standards.
  • Skilled in using network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., Splunk, Solarwinds, Nagios, Wireshark).
  • Proficiency with security tools (IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, penetration testing tools).
  • Familiarity with network protocols and standards (OSPF, IPSEC, BGP, SSL, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP).
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CISM, CompTIA CySA, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+ preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve network issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary.
  • US Person as defined in 22 CRF Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees and those given asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty) since work includes ITAR controlled technical data.
  • Must maintain a U.S. Passport or be able to obtain one upon hire.
