Frost Brown Todd LLP, a national law firm of 1000+ legal and business professionals in seventeen offices, is currently seeking a Paralegal/Commercial Closing Specialist to join our Cincinnati office. The Paralegal/Commercial Closing Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting attorneys throughout all stages of commercial real estate transactions and development matters. This hybrid position involves handling both billable work for the firm and non-billable tasks for the firm’s title agency.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Drafting and reviewing commercial real estate contracts, deeds, leases, mortgages, and other legal documents.
  • Preparing and maintaining closing checklists.
  • Ordering title exams, title commitments, surveys, and zoning verification reports.
  • Analyzing title documents, surveys, and legal descriptions of property.
  • Drafting and issuing title commitments and title insurance policies; obtaining underwriter approvals as necessary.
  • Assisting with due diligence matters, clearing title encumbrances, and satisfying requirements outlined in the title commitments.
  • Communicating with lenders, title companies, clients and other third parties to ensure smooth closings.
  • Assembling closing documents, reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, obtaining signatures, ensuring escrow transactions are sufficiently funded and balanced and disbursing funds in accordance with instructions.
  • Managing post-closing matters, ensuring proper document recording and issuance of final policies.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree with a major in paralegal studies.
  • Licensed title insurance agent in Ohio is preferred.
  • Notary in Ohio is preferred.
  • Extremely thorough and accurate in work product.
  • Strong internet research skills.
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Ability to exercise a moderate level of discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize numerous tasks in a fast-paced environment with time constraints.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys, business professionals and others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office applications.
  • Experience using SoftPro Select or other title closing software program is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or irregular hours, as needed.
