Assists buying team members in processing data for the selection and procurement of merchandise, which supports overall company in accurate data impacting, receiving and POS accuracy. A successful candidate in this field may come from a banking, receiving, or accounts payable/ receivable background. Detail oriented.


Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Ensure timely delivery of merchandise through consistent communication and follow-up with the vendor, distribution center and store locations.
  • Work directly with purchasing assistants in providing clerical support regarding system and product information.
  • Research and maintain information regarding price and specifications, from vendors, catalogs and the Internet for new and existing product and estimating values according to the market.
  • Work with vendors and warehouse manager to obtain price, availability and delivery of products to the stores for orders.
  • Maintain show specials in the computer system adjusting discounts, pricing and terms. Maintain replenishment system for standard merchandise on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate daily (via phone, email and fax) with stores and other internal personnel in resolving issues regarding new product lines, special order capabilities, pricing, advertising and delivery of merchandise.
  • Maintain system data related to new vendors, SKU’s, min/max, special orders and pricing.
  • Learn and fully utilize available technology to maximize job efficiency including vendor B2B information sites to access UPC codes, place orders, etc…
  • May assist or perform quotes/bids for customers purchasing large quantities.
  • Other duties pertaining to the procurement of products, goods or services as assigned by area manager/director.


Requirements:


Required Skills: Requires excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong analytical, organizational and computer skills. Must be very proficient with 10 key and word processing ability to manage heavy data entry duties.


Required Experience: At least 2 years experience in an office, accounting, purchasing or data entry environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or other analytical spreadsheet tools, inventory management, product selection, pricing and review, advertising/marketing and freight is required.


Required Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent.
